Grant Writing

Working on my NRSA grant application. Just ate way too much ice cream -- actually, frozen yogurt, so it's healthy, right? Yeah...

Will be working most of the weekend. Booo!

Pi Day

Yesterday was Pi Day (March 14, aka 3.14). I went to a pi day party. Super nerdy but also super tasty :) There were so many pies (yes, I know pie and pi are not the same thing). It was also nice to get out and talk to people a little bit.

Roommate A has left for Italy. She actually hosted two friends from Italy for her last few days here, and they are still here in the apartment. They're very nice and polite, so not any trouble. They'll be leaving tomorrow. After that, who knows? I'm curious to see who my next roommate will be.

ZUMBA!

I went to a class called ZUMBA! at the gym today. Fun. You learn Afro/Latino dance routines for the purpose of working out. Only thing is, it's one of those classes where girls dress up in cute workout clothes (as opposed to the other classes where you can wear a stinky T-shirt and loose pants, my usual workout gear). So, I guess I stuck out a little bit. But I was also one of the best students, so hopefully that made up for looking like a bum ;)

Hurt Finger

I came back yesterday morning from a weekend in the Bay Area. It was my parents' 30th anniversary, plus Aba's, boyfriend K's, and brother M's birthdays are all this week/this coming weekend. So, we had a lot of celebrating. Sister D even flew in from Singapore. Had a great time.

I knew there were supposed to be showers in Boston/Cambridge when I got back yesterday morning, but I didn't want to pack rain boots just for the walk back from the T to my apartment. Well, turns out it was snowing instead, and by the time I got back to my apt, my feet were totally soaked from the slushy snow.

Anyway... I've been having some bad luck with the less-than-nice furniture in my apartment. Yesterday, I scraped my knuckle on the non-sanded edge of my shelves and took out a chunk of skin. Today, I slammed my finger in the drawers because I pushed too hard to get one of them unstuck. As long as I just develop a bruise and the nail doesn't fall off, that's fine.

Not much new other than that. I'm working away; March is a really busy month for me. I recently accepted an invitation to speak at a proposed symposium at a Memory Disorders conference in September in Chapel Hill, so we'll see if the symposium gets approved (apparently members of the society vote on which of the proposed symposia they want).

I'm heading out to a Purim celebration in ~45 min. Steve Pinker is going to speak -- that'll be interesting :)

Snow Day!

I knew there was going to be some snow, but it looks like there's lots of it! Boss R is in San Diego apparently, giving a talk at UCSD, lucky guy! I guess I'll go into work late today because the snow is supposed to let up for a little bit. Too bad, because I was going to get in early and have a super-productive day.

Roommate A left last night to go to Montreal and then NYC for work, but I see her bags here this morning, which means the bus probably couldn't leave because of the storm. That sucks for her :( She has only a week or so left in the states...

A Long-Awaited Fun Day

Boston Common in the winter.

I decided I needed to go out last weekend, so I ventured out to the Boston Common/Newbury St area just to walk around. It was refreshing :)
